silicon/teflon sheet

Can i ask advice and opinions on what to use bewteen the bottom platen and garment and also what to put on top of garment and round mugs etc before pressing.

I have seen different methods i.e silicon sheet from ebay (but i cant seem to find the link now) Greaseproof paper from the supermarket has been mentioned and then there is teflon sheets.

Does anyone have advice.

I use those silicon sheets, I use teflon sheets from Morrisons and baking parchment also.

Silicon sheets I use if I have to press on to a slightly uneven surface such as slates and tiles.

Teflon sheets I use when pressing most items as both top and bottom most items to protect my press platen and the item from the press platen.

Baking parchement I use when I want to stop sublimation ink migrating from an item onto my press or elsewhere on the item (so inside shirts). (I also use plain paper for this purpose also)

Plain copier paper around mugs, greaseproof paper on flat press.

All we do is wrap printed paper around the mug tthen press. Nothing else. If you are using a good quality paper then there should be a need for anything else.

ok so just wrap around my print then as i thought wrapping something else was designed to protect the press

I never covered them woth extra paper. Never had any problem with mugs or press.

I don't put anything around mugs either. When pressing on the flat press I use the A3 sheets from Xpres. Not cheap, last time I paid £30 for a big pack of 500 but they last me forever.

Was told to put paper round mugs when I first started in case any ink transfers to the heat blanket, habit now.
