Re: Is it as simple as ?

Post by Kahboose »

Im looking at playing for the first time with sublimation printing just on Tshirts to try it out.
Ive looked into it and apparently my Epson SX445W printer will accept sublimation ink.

But ? Is it really as simple as buying some sublimation cartridges & Sub Paper printing and pressing ?

Am i missing something ?

Sorry for the newbie question :)

Well... Yes.put carts in and start printing and pressing. But if you want to producedecent quality stuff you will need icc color correction profile, learn correct times, presure and temperatures + tone of other stuff :-)

I believe you cannot just swap the cartridges as you would have to flush out the ink that is already in the printer which would be costly with sub ink.

On your other question BMS are a good suppplier.

Hope this helps and hopefully someone will be along soon to elaborate on the answers and correct me if i am wrong.

You ccan get sub cartridges for the SX435 as its not aan officially supported printer. So you'll have to buy the ink, a set of refillable cartridges, profile it and trust it all works. The inks alone are going to cost £200+vat. Whenever topic such as this come up I question the logic of using a printer just because you've got it and then trying to fit the square peg in the round hole. A new Ricoh (such as the GXe3300) will cost around £260-£270 +vat and with that you get a fully supported, warrantied, tested printer that comes with everything you need including the PowerDriver software for colour management.

By the time you buy the individual components to get your SX435 working then you could save yourself time, testing, fault finding and just get a new printer dedicated for sub printing.
