approaching wrong side of 50...
Re: approaching wrong side of 50...
The baby grows words are in the public domain and Stuie only falls under copyright if its sold - the item as you can see is on a piece of cloth and is for education purposes only - to show that any image can be taken and digitized. The one on the machine in stitch was a second sample as the completed one had flaws, so a work in progress.

Welcome,
We have the Futura XL 400 whilst its great for those flat items, its not so easy to frame up some of the shaped garments, trying to talk wife into a single head machine but no luck yet, need some work to justify cost.

Wow, thats a big jump from a Singer to a multi-head. I'm guessing you must have commercial premises or a lot of room at home!macca;50446 wrote:Just been reading up on Sawgrass - they do seem to have the market so we have to comply.
Singer Futura CE250 at present looking to upgrade to a multi head pretty soon. Use the Singer for basics like baby grows and also as it USB connects to a laptop I can digitize graphics...like so

Yeah I saw that you'd like a single head Jersue, but Macca is looking to upgrade to a multi-head!

Re: approaching wrong side of 50...
the thing is to know your market, not focus on the cost of production, ink might seem expensive if you don't have any sales, but ink for a mug is only about 15p, the mug is 85p to £1, so as long as you can sell lots at £5+ or a few at £10 then no worries. I agree about not risking your house by printing copywrited material.

Please don't get hung up on copyright, the image shown was used as a test design only. To prove the digitising software I have was capable and for me to learn on. It was chosen for the range of colours withing the original artwork and complexity, the ray gun is quite intricate and I had to spend a lot of time getting it right, with a lot of cloth and thread on the floor. But it was well worth it
My son is a graphic artist and my late wife was a magician with PSP so I have 1000's of unique designs under intulectual copyright (http://www.ipo.gov.uk/copy.htm/). And you will be amazed at how simple it is to embroider a photograph of someone (AFTER you have spent months working out how to do it!!!!!!!!)
The whole concept of this new venture has been started simply because "my" designs have been asked for - while embroidery looks good, printing is more efficient. The Singer is brilliant at proving the digitizing but slow if more than one item required, hence the need to have a multihead machine.
The plan is embroidery cloth item at over £20 or printed item £10 to £12 - with mugs/keyrings/mousemats/backpack/gollybags etc as and when requested. Like I said early stages yet.
Not talking of the big commercial 40/50 head mutli machines, something like a Brother with 6 to 10 heads which fits comfortably with a laptop/printer/heat machine in a small extension already on the house - which needs clearing out
.
Sublim ink is just very expensive and it appears entirely due to patents held by a corporation - so even my retirement is being influenced by these faceless greedy corporate fat cats !!!!!
