Re: T Shirt Printing

Post by joconnell »

If anyone is needing the service of T shirt printing I am available to provide the service. I invested in a DTG printer which cost a fair amount of money but in the present economic climate I am not getting the full use of the printer. I can also do garment vinyl and sublimation if that is required.
Thanks,
James

Hi James.
I hope thats those prices are plus VAT. If not then you are running at a loss. We did a controlled costing of an A4 , multi coloured print on 100 black shirts. T-shirt, pretreatment, heatpress, ink cost, staff costs, parchment papers etc. 8.50 is not far off what they cost to print.

Earl,
I am not VAT registered so my price is what I will charge. Taking into account all my costs I will be still making a profit. I would be interested to see your calculations to see if I have got my costs wrong.
Thanks,
James

We did the costing experiment about three months ago .
I have a Neoflex and together with the supplier in Germany we did a breakdown , piece by piece , of what it costs. And we were amazed.
The print was A4 front and back and on black shirts. The supplier pretreated 100 t-shirts , front and back , and I did the same using my Wagner hand spray machine. I remember the pretreatment used 20 to 25ml per side. 20 to 25 t-shirts , front and back, per Liter. No difference between the Wagner or the pretreatment machine. Pretreatment = 50cents per side.
Ink costs were about 1,20€ per side. 2,40€ for both.
T-shirts I used was the FOL Premium and Sols Imperial. 2€ each.
As it was a black shirt I could print 10 sides per hour. Staff costs 10€ per hour. ( 1€ per t-shirt side printed).

Costing it out,
T-shirt = 2€ average
Pretreatment 1€ for both sides
Ink 2.40€ both sides
Staff cost 2€ per shirt
Electric costs, parchment paper etc, no idea but lets say 50cents.

Totals around 7.90€.
That is with out adding VAT @ 19% = 9.40€

As you are not VAT reg then the cost of ink, t-shirt etc will be higher.

This was done using a large A4/A3 print at around 40% coverage. I did this to get a maximum cost. The costs do not take into account the wasted or badly printed shirts ( about 5 pieces ). And not taking into account the ink the machine uses when cleaning itself or Powercleaning.

Material costs here are about the same as in the UK. Pretreat costs 22€ per Liter , Ink around 200€ per liter ( plus VAT).

Scary....

The Neoflex uses the Epson 4880 printer , if yours has the same then your costs will be the same.

I never sell for under 10€ for a one sided t-s and 14€ for two. ( plus VAT) . Its not worth it.

Have you done any costings?

Earl.
