Anyone using RollBack Rx? Came across it recently and it looks very impressive, reviews rank it very highly.

It takes a regular snapshot of your PC and you can rollback to any given time.

Slight issue with XP last night reminded me what a waste of space the built in restore feature is! I've never once managed to use this feature successfully.

This software is about £55, 25% discount through Facebook.....just went on there and found I missed a sale, they were selling licences for $25 :-(

er.....system restore does that for nothing justin.....or so does a scheduled back up of your pc

have used built in restore on xp/me and windows 7 and it worked the way it should.....

unless you got some sort of virus preventing you from restoring back...i had one last yr...bloody pain to get rid of.....ended up formating the drive that was infected to save my sanity

But as I mentioned above, system restored doesn't do this :-) Scheduled backups are different, unless you're backing up every hour. I have Acronis Backup software but to backup on that sort of frequency is extremely intensive.

Rollback would allow you to restore before the virus took a hold, even if Windows won't boot you can get in and rollback.

just had another sniff at this software justin

FROM THERE SITE -
"Windows System Restore can only restore Windows "System Files" and "Some" Program files. RollBack Rx functions at the sector level of the hard drive and restores every bit of data - in essence making your PC a virtual time-machine"

way above what any system restore can do.....

Yes, the more you read the better it looks :-) It really is a time machine, it's a great description. I'm going to take a look at the free trial...maybe on another PC...cause a few disasters and see what happens ;-)

but....
from what i have read on another forum.....

"THE VERSION BEFORE THIS WAS BETTER I MEAN V.8.

IN THIS VERSION V 9 THERE IS NO HARD DRIVE IMAGE BACKUP ON CD IN CASE ALL THE SYSTEM FAILS TO BOOT..

V9. RELEASE IS A REAL BAD NEWS,I AM GETTING BACK TO VERSION 8 WHERE ALL THAT WAS POSSIBLE"

I wonder if you can download V8 once you're registered, seems like a backwards step...will look at that.

Might be worth considering this package also - it has advantage of being cheaper and has similar features.

Trouble with all these packages is they require you to have a storage drive to store your backup on - new systems store your information in the cloud. Might be worth checking out Carbonite and similar before buying anything.

Is Carbonite not just backup software? Backup isn't the problem, it's rollback/restore I need.

I'll take a look at Genie, I see they have a trial as well :-) One review compared all similar software and Genie (Timeline Pro) came out 10/10 in every category...well worth a look then!

Storage isn't an issue and I want to keep anything stored locally.

This looks interesting....
