Not so if you are a VAT registered company. If you are then HMRC requires vat to be charged on postage & carriage if the goods are a vatable supply. If you are not charging vat on postage then a vat inspection will throw this up and a vat registered company will have to pay the vat imputed.

1. as i said my normal supplier was out of stock so had no choice.
2. I'm not really fussed about the VAT side of it my point is how can they justify £7.00 delivery +VAT and also how can it cost £4.50 + VAT in May then this month be £7 + VAT

I don't know all the details but from the thread I don't think you're comparing apples with apples. One order was for paper and the next order was for paper and something else. I also don't know if the two costs quoted are for the same delivery services - certainly one sounds like post but was the other a courier service? So weight, value, delivery services all could account for the differences - as well as customer choice. For example it's possible to order low weight, low value goods from us for a £1.95 +vat delivery (2nd class post) but equally a customer could pay £6.99, £7.99, £10.50, £12.00 or more depending on the courier service selected for the goods.

I think your dead right here, the comparison is no where near like for like. Plus is the delivery service the same. I think that this is just going to go nowhere as were going round in circles all the time.

My first order was

X1 A4 sub paper - weighing 311g and p+P was £4.50+VAT = £5.40

My second order was

X1 A4 sub paper - weighing 311g
X50 replacement magnets - weighing 11g (that stick to back of fridge magnets)
Postage for this order cost me £7+VAT = £8.40

When i was in the shopping cart there was no other delivery choice available other than the £7.00+VAT

I have weight my last order and checked on royal mail prices and first class would of cost £2.70 so to make £5.70 profit on postage is a bit of a rip even with packaging costs as it was only a envelope.

By the way i ordered it from BMS

We don't send by post at £7 +vat so that must have been a courier service and those costs are a lot higher than postage!

Many sublimation suppliers don't even offer a postal service so with some suppliers you'd pay up to £10 +vat for carriage regardless of order quantity.

Are you sure your scales are calibrated as 50 magnets don't weigh 11g!

Yes thats what i said it only gave me 1 post option and apparently it costs you £12.50 to send my order using this method.

I wasn't actual magnets it was the sticky on magnet pieces you attach to magnets so they don't weight anything really.

I've added the same products to the shopping cart again on your website and attached screenshot and these are delivery options i got so i had no choice to select £7.00+VAT option.

I've never had a supplier charge me £10+VAT for any small order nor sometimes a large order.

Again this isn't comparing what you think with what your ordering. If you've had these magnets from us before then you'll know it is the 1 inch square magnet with the pealable adhesive strip on them - we don't sell just the adhesive

The delivery cost, as you can see is by courier. The tracked service as explained on our website is Special Delivery.

I know of sublimation suppliers, many in fact, that refuse to send by post and only use couriers and charge up to £10 +vat for delivery on just 100 sheets of paper. [Edit: the A4 Trupix paper also is much heavier than 311g - from memory this is around 3/4kg]

i had slight prob with postage with Bms....paid for 24hr(nearly next day) delivery on top of the usual delivery price...but goods didnt arrive till 3 days later....
i payed by paypal, instead of my usual card(my fault), so the payment process would take longer to get approved than it would if i was paying by my card...didnt sink in till after i done it stupidly enough !

contacted martin about this -matter was sorted out within 20 mins of my email.....cant ask any more from any supplier TBH.

if registered with this site (payed) you get discount on most goods on the BMS site - 95% of the products work out cheaper than most rival companys - even WITH the postage added.....and i,m not taking anyones side here...just presenting facts, and i see where mattie is coming from as well
