Internet service provider.
Re: Internet service provider.
I am currently on aol, and appear to be having problems with things getting through.
There is no cable provision where I work.
I am looking at going over to the FSB for phone and internet.
Anybody else use them?
Any other thoughts or suggestions?

Since moving here, I have used 3g via a dongle, works great on network as well. I wouldnt pay bt's exhorbinant price to put a new phone line in. Its been trouble free a lot of downloads, quite inexpensive.

Hi Charli
The mobile option is something to consider.
The FSB is £29.95 per month for internet and phone both unlimited (usual fair usage statement). No charge for line installation if I have a 2 year contract. Currently I run the internet off an existing private line into the premises. It would appear to be cheaper to use a business line and internet package. Some saving would be made by changing my mobile package to fewer minutes as more calls will go out on the landline.

Well only you can really work out the most benificial cost/service to you. I have to admit i was with aol from 1997 when it was 1p a minute dial up lol, until about 3 years ago when I moved. They charged me about £60 for getting it disconnected after all those years, as they said i had to payup the notice period I never gave them. I had however phoned them long before I moved and was told as a long standing customer I didnt need to give 3 months notice just a week.JMugs;48996 wrote:Hi Charli

I have been trying to work out when I started with AOL, and certainly dial up was the only thing available, at a guess it was probably about the same time! I'll have to watch for the terms on giving notice!

Re: Internet service provider.
Up until the last couple of weeks my isp (virginmedia) was so reliable I had forgotten what it was like to not have constant access. However in last couple of weeks it has been more flaky than a cadbury's bar and I hope this is just a blip in service. It is now possible to get a three 'all you can eat' mobile phone plan for around £35 that includes the ability to tether your pc via your phone to the net and when we have issues this is what we do. If you need a new line then the best deal used to be via the Post Office who charged a low rate for installation and you did not have to have 18 or 24 months package to benefit.
Re: Internet service provider.
Makes a note about the post office just in case the need ever arises.
Re: Internet service provider.
I wouldn't have thought of the post office. Friends are currently having problems with Virgin and another friend has had nothing but problems with Orange for the last 2 weeks.
There appears to be lots of internet wobbles going on.
