Hi there, got a billion questions so looking for some advice :-) As i said im a complete novice but really fancy having a go at this whole sublimation process. Like a complete trooper without giving it too much thought i decided "lets just get cracking" so off i set with ebay 36 Mugs......bargin paper.......cheap as chips.....OMG what next i was all ready to invest in a mug press thinking that was all it would take then bang....i come across sublimation there is a whole different type of printing i would need to do. Putting the press on the back burner i decided to look into printing and printers.......everything from photo printers to £5000 huge things. SO i know this is long winded but im looking for some information on basic, half decent printing equipment. Is it the printer or the ink that makes sublimation different??

Andy - welcome best advice on here, is to take these 3 steps...

1. put kettle on, or open fridge (depending on beverage required)

2. take shoes off

3. with said beverage in your hand, use your mouse and your eyes, and have a good long read of all of the posts relating to the type of printing/pressing you are looking at.

all of the questions in your post will be answered on the boards, so please have a good read and THEN ask questions on the end of the posts.

this section is just for hi's - so hello and welcome

Welcome also :). Check out the Ricoh GXe3300 as an out of the box starter printer for sublimation.

Hi Andy ...welcome in and Mrs M advice is sound. Also to answer your question directly it is the printer AND the inks that make the difference....and what makes sublimation possible.......and the biggest bit of advice you'll probably get from here is 'buy cheap equipment and you'll end up buying twice'........have fun and I can highly recommend Martin at BMS for kit and advice.

Hello Andy

I'm new and just playing about with a few bits to get the hang of it. This site though is a wealth of information.
