Re: online display of goods

Post by picprintpress »

Will be a month or so before im ready to order all the gear needed to get started, so in the meantime I have been busy working on the website & getting images ready for the mugs etc, I anticipate that I will have at least 200 designs to choose from when I get started & obviously will not have all the mugs printed for web site launch, I may only print the mugs on demand depending on how well things go with my image templates, have included a pic of my first attempt, is there anything that you would modify for online display & if so what, all advice greatly received.

I must say I think you started from other side :)

I would order all gear and learn a bit then start to build the web site.

Yes paul logically your right, but im sitting with over 200 designs ready to go & web design is a hobby so I thought I would get everything in place, I would not be launching the site or trying to sell anything untill I was 100% with the dye sub side of things, at present just mucking about with templates & resizing images to ensure im getting the best resolution possible.

To be 100% honest I hate this way of showing mug images
Does not look to profesional for my liking and another think is that everybody use this method now... How about proper pictures or some decent mock ups. you can find some discusion about scripts that help you achieve decent mock ups...

I agree with Paul. Whenever I see that kind of picture on a website or ebay listing, I quickly click away. Why? Because that kind of image tells me that the seller hasn't printed one of those mugs before. If they've not printed one, how do I know it's going to come out okay? How do they know if they can even print it? And, if they've had so few orders that they've never printed one before, they're clearly a very new seller and I'd rather go to someone that's been around a bit.

But, then, what do I know? People on ebay sell mugs using this type of graphic every day of the week. So it clearly doesn't bother them.

I agree with Paul and JSR, it does give the impression that you have not printed the design before.
