The emails still don't get to my AOL address even though I have checked all Spam filters, and all things that may be blocked. However I can access and reply to them all in CPanel.
So we have established that "opencart" is doing its bit, the server appears to be doing its bit, what happens with it geting to my AOL address is anybodies guess.
Steve switched the email address to his own and it works fine, put it back to my AOL address, and ....... nothing.
The odd thing is that and order gets through, a "contact us" enquiry does not.
Strange.

Now I have opened a hotmail account, all I have to do is work out how to send the emails to it from "opencart".
Tonight it appears the "Contact us" emails aren't even arrivng in Cpanel.
Either I am very good at screwing all this up, or "opencart" is hit and miss. I assume other people on here use "Opencart" but no comments like "Also had problems" or "It was simple".
It all appears to be simple, I just can not get it to work.
I'm going to bed.

if the emails aren't in the cpanel then you've prob entered the email address wrong
it anything doesn't work always check everything in detail to make sure it's exact

I use OpenCart and the email system works just fine.
However, I wouldn't use either AOL or any of the "free" email services if they paid me. They are all far too quick to consider something as spam, and delete it or otherwise drop it from getting through to them. Whenever I see a customer sign up with a hotmail, gmail, or AOL email address, I groan because I know it's going to be an absolute hassle to contact them if there's a need to.
For myself, I just use the email addresses I get with my registered domains. As they're on the same server, no external party can get in the way to block/drop them.
If you're using a WHM/cPanel server and you think the emails are being dropped somewhere between OpenCart and the domain's email account, you can look into the server logs to find out what's going on (or get your host to look into them).

I use WHM/cPanel all the time to set up accounts. Email accounts I set-up in cPanel are regular POP3 accounts which I retrieve mail from on my computers/phone/iPad. I set my mail software to leave the mail on the server for three days (so that it's available to my other devices, and so that I can log-in to webmail in the event that it becomes necessary).

Computers confuse me.
I can get into Cpanel from the computer in my office at home, however if I try from the netbook, or my office at work I can't. It say the "IP address has changed". Is this right?
I am fairly convinced that all this confusion is me being dumb.

I don't know why a change of IP address would be an issue. You should just be able to log-in afresh.
Sometimes too many failed login attempts will make the server block the IP address for security reasons. That might be what's happening here, but it's impossible for me to tell.
Remember that everything that goes wrong today is one new piece of knowledge you didn't have before. Once you've got that knowledge, it won't go wrong again in the future because you'll know the solution instantly. Then you'll be like us... (although I'm not sure if that's a particularly appetising recommendation!
