Just for the record we did a Suzuki T shirt and got threatended by Suzuki UK to cease with immediate effect or face the consequences - Also Land Rover did the same.RogerC;46783 wrote:Another way of looking at it is if someone thinks enough of your work to copy it take it as a compliment because it is likely it's not going to harm your market unless you're going national or global.
I never understand why those who get upset over this do so. Take 'official' logos for example....Red Bull, Suzuki and other big big brands seem to mind not a jot if their logo is copied....after all it is free advertising for them.
each year we seem to create one great selling T shirt and then it gets canned by someone or other - very frustrating. Oh and in case any dares to use Rossi the bike rider thats a real no no!

Re: How to protect a slogan
Whether you hold the copyright/patent to something is only the beginning of the story ... if someone copies you in the future, it is then up to you to take them to court to prove they are infringing your intellectual property, at your own expense, and then it can easily be a case of whoever can afford the best lawyer will win, so you kind of have no hope/chance if you're up against a big company with their own legal dept.
Re: How to protect a slogan
So basically then copyright is the same as patent in the courts and I know all about the latter shrugssss
