How to protect a slogan
Re: How to protect a slogan
Hello
I have a question here, it may have been answered on here in the past, if it has sorry for repeating it but I couldnt find an answer to it.
Right the question is this, if you come up with a good slogan, how do you protect it. As I have one going round in my head at the moment, and I feel so many would soon jump on the band wagon coppying it if its not protected in some way.
So over to you goold folks now.

Well a good starting point might be looking at http://copyright.co.uk/
It has lots of useful information about copyright and copyright issues.

Getting copyright is time consuming, confusing and expensive hence it is usually only the 'big boys' who can afford to do it unless you're investing in something which will recoup your outlay....in other words will it be worthwhile in time and money.

Right just as I thought Mrs Maggot and rogerC, but it was worth an ask on here in case there was an easy way.

Another way of looking at it is if someone thinks enough of your work to copy it take it as a compliment because it is likely it's not going to harm your market unless you're going national or global.
I never understand why those who get upset over this do so. Take 'official' logos for example....Red Bull, Suzuki and other big big brands seem to mind not a jot if their logo is copied....after all it is free advertising for them.

Well if as that website suggests copyrighting 1 logo costs £42 or 10 for £289 then it doesnt sound that expensive. However I would still prefer to save the £42 and hope that my logo became so 'popular' that it was copied.
