had to go up to the city today....had to !

had to get a A2 self healing cutting mat and scalpel/set of blades....
Trying to cut designs (and other things) with bloody scissors is a nightmare.....cannot get a straight edge to save myself - that means designs are harder to put on mugs accurately - and a few have turned out lop sided because of that.
Was gonna go for one of those swipe trimmer thingys but, decided i would get a quicker/better cut with the scalpel and mat - with a ruler for guidence !
Will help with weeding when i get around to doing vinyl, i would think !

what do you guys use/prefer for cutting ?

mat-ruler-scalpel
or
swipe trimmer thingys......or even a full on guillotine

We use a side swipe guilotine for items up to around 80cm wide, anything larger then it's a metre ruler and scapel. It's very easy to break a blade doing it that way and not as accurate as a guilotine. It's much much quicker than using a blade aswell so if I were you, I'd think about investing in one, but think about the size you go for, anything smaller than A3 would be a waste of time.

We'd love an A2 or A1 guillotine, but don't have the space for one. When we built the studio we thought 12 foot square would be big enough, and it was for a while..!

I use a blade and mat.. or for really small bits.. a side to side blade cutter.

Rotatrim for up to 24 inch and scalpel/mat for bigger sizes.
