Printing to cotton via transfer paper and press

Hi all,

I was wondering what method people use when pressing to cotton? I've been using a Teflon sheet to protect the transfer from sticking to the heat press - however I've noticed that after 30-40 prints an £8 Teflon sheet is nnow not really doing a great job.. Sometimes leaving marks etc.

What do you guys use? If anything?

Another question. Does anyone print to faux silk cushions and if so what is your method?

I use a teflon sheet for my DTG prints. When it starts to stick I spray it with Silicon. 100´s of prints and its still working.

Just google silicon spray. Costs about 5 pounds for a can.

If you are only doing A4 size prints, the local cheap shops do a Teflon "oven liner" sheet for less than £1. Its the same stuff as is sold for dye sub, just cut a bit smaller.
I use a roll of greaseproof paper as part of the sandwich for everything that goes in the heat press. it stops dye sub ink or vinyl from reaching the teflon or the heater platen.

Just noticed that this a couple of months old but my info may be useful to some.

I've pressed no end of cotton tshirts, ladies vests, baby vests and tote bags for about 3 years now and I've only ever used a plain old sheet of A4 paper, or 2 sheets on large prints. I use the same sheet of plain paper for continuous runs. I use a temp of around 160 degrees C. The only problem I have ever had was I once did a final press on some pink vinyl and it left some colour on the paper without me noticing, it then left a faint pink colour on the next garment, doh! I learnt from that one, but apart from that issue I have had no other problems using plain paper.

I do upto 500 white laser prints a month, and always repress with the same teflon sheet, transfere paper from The Magic Touch or Forever have never left any residue, or needed replacing.

Am I missing something, - or are you?
