Not sure on what printer to use Epson P50, B1100, or Photo 2100
Re: Not sure on what printer to use Epson P50, B1100, or Photo 2100
Hi all,
As the title says... i'm not sure which of the following Epson Printers to use for Sublimation (If any)
P50. Currently used with normal CISS but considering changing to Sublimation. (6 Colour)
Photo 2100 Not been used for over a year. just gathering dust but it is A3 compared to P50 (8 Colour)
Buy a Brand new B1100 A3 Printer, (4 Colour)
Does quality on 6 colour really make much difference on Sublimation compared to 4 Colour ?
If i remember correctly the Greens as in grass, trees etc always seemed sharper on 6 colour but that was just dye ink.
Is the Photo 2100 really worth buying ink for ? (same reason as P50 above) I've purchased some Zap as i can imagine this won't want to print very easily after being off for some time.
Whats the general opinion of B1100 Printer ? Anyone got good / bad points for this printer ?
Reason i mentioned A3 is just to cover a wider variety of sizes.
Whichever route i go down, Paul will be contacted for custom profile to be made up for me.
Sorry for all the questions but would rather not waste money on items if not needed.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Rob

Re: Not sure on what printer to use Epson P50, B1100, or Photo 2100
I'm currently using both the B1100 and P50. P50 prints are far superior imo. B1100 is more of a business printer and whilst most prints are perfectly ok I'm not that happy with it.
I've used 8 colour systems in the past and find them a waste of time (and ink!) Sublimation just doesn't justify the extra colours.
I only use refil carts not CIS, don't get anywhere near as many issues this way with air locks etc.

Lol. Many members will tell you 4 colour is perfectly acceptable, I just find the gradients and skin tones etc. are better on the 6 colour. Most printers, all Ricohs etc. are 4 colour, it's just for the work I do 6 colour suits.

Well to begin with until i found this site i couldn't find a Profile for the P50, so i thought i was going to struggle with it, So soon as everything arrives a profile will be purchased from Paul.
Love the printer. been using 6 Colour Epsons since 2003 & never looked backed. Why does it have to be a bank holiday weekend ! Gonna have to wait till Tuesday ! lol

Lol. I got a call from Epson today as I was waiting to hear when the new 1500 A3 printer was released. They only had 3 left in stock on offer at £250. I was going to by one but it fell on the same day as the wife's Birthday.....so I might have to put it off until next week, lol.
Paul's your man for profiles. I make them for my own printers now and the difference getting the right profile is incredible.

Well you not thought about the wife's birthday present very well. I'm sure she'd love an Epson A3 printer for her birthday!!
Just don't do what i said to the wife when she asked me.... was i taking her out on her birthday. I replied "yes of course i will......... i'll take you to work in the morning" After 5 days, the hospital said i was well enough to go home !

Very nice Paul, Also spotted JSR's print from your profile you did for him earlier today while looking through the forum. I'll hopefully be in touch tomorrow about a custom profile for my P50 (If my paper arrives that is ! )
