i use them occasionally but find that you are waiting on eggshells waiting for them to ring you to take payment.
i did ring them last time after placing an order on-line and was told that someone would ring me back and i should wait.

when you need things asap thats not good for your nerves lol

Personally (my opinion) I can't understand why any company wouldn't accept online payments nowadays. It can be done safely and relatively cheaply. Surely these companies lose a lot of business this way? Xpres have the same method of payment unless something's changed there.

For me it's not always convenient to take calls during the day due to work commitments. Not so bad if I can make the call at a time to suit me but like you say, when youre waiting for that call.....

I've used Transfer Press quite a few times and not had a problem with them - to be honest, they have some nice items which are very good quality (and always delivered next day).

Regarding payment over the phone - until recently, Ralawise (a major clothing company) only accepted payment over the phone if paying as you go (not on credit) and would call you up for details. On my last order they have sagepay on the site now so I could pay instantly. Ralawise always called after 5pm (I asked for this) so no one else was about in the shop to hear the details and I always confirmed amounts before releasing my details.

Also - another point that you might not be aware of. Some companies that allow payment via their site don't actually get the payment through instantly but have the details sent to them (encrypted) over the internet so they can be manually put through when convenient - that's why you'll get a card receipt with the 'customer not present' details on there.

Once Transfer Press have your details you have the option for them to hold them and select 'use card details previously provided' on ordering to speed up the process.

I frequently check out the Transfer Press to see if they yet take payment over the internet, and they don't so I'm always going elsewhere.

There was someone from TP on this forum a while back who said they would be considering it. One of the reasons put forward for not doing it was that PayPal charge more than the traditional credit card fee for taking payment. When it was pointed out that other suppliers (such as BMS) charge that extra payment onto the customer, the TP representative said that they'd look into it.

That was some time ago now and nothing has changed.

Personally, I'm ultra-paranoid about who I give my credit card details to. I know a couple of people who've used their card over the phone, only to have been scammed later. I tend to never deal with a new company that wants my credit card details unless they use a payment processor that I'm familiar with.

I personally find PayPal to be the most convenient because that's how most of my customers pay me, so paying suppliers using the same source saves all the hassle of moving funds out of PayPal, wait for it to reach the bank account, and then back to the credit card and wait for it to clear there. And this is why I favour PayPal-accepting online suppliers over other suppliers.

This is the 21st Century. It shouldn't be necessary to manually key-in credit card details these days when there are a wealth of online facilities.

to be honest paypal fees are on par with credit card terminals, by the time you pay the monthly fee and rental of the machine along with the charges your paying similar to what you would with paypal. Plus paypals % comes down too if you do enough business a month.
