set up the non sub printer first....

bloody reds are coming out PINK !....

using corel draw x5.....been through the youtube settings for it.....nope, still coming out pink.....

might need JSR for this one.....

using brother 5910dw printer ( ordinary inks ) and corel draw x5....anyone help with the settings for x5 ?..and this is before i even get the to sub inks ..yikes !...def that will be a " paul" on here case lol

I don't use Corel myself but it shouldn't be a problem.

Are you using the Brother inks that come with the printer, or are you using third-party dye inks? If third-party, then you can expect the colours to be a little "off" if you don't get a profile made. If you're using Brother inks, try printing from something else.

I wouldn't worry too much about the colours that come out until you (i) put in the inks you intend to use with the printer, and (ii) get the custom profile made.

using the inks that came with the printer bud.....just for ordinary everyday printing...ie - flyers with pics - invoicing ect

When I printed from my 5890CN using the supplied Brother inks and Innobella sample paper, the print results were nothing short of fantastic.

Try printing from something else - even direct through Windows would do it (right-click on a photo, and print) - just in case you have legacy settings in Photoshop/Corel that are making it print using some forgotten setting. I don't tend to use Adobe products (although I do have PE, but I don't use it much).

still no joy with this.....blacks now coming out proper.....just the dam reds are still light pinky/red.....
all other colours come out perfect using rgb pallet..apart from red:mad:

jeez....and this is way before i get to the headache of sub dyes...wonderful:rolleyes:

still googling to find an answer.....must be a solution...always is !

i,m using a reem of ordinary printing paper....surely that cant be the reason my reds arnt coming out ?....na, that just bloody stupid

Did the printer come with any proper paper?

Mine came with a small pack of 6x4 Innobella paper to use with the OEM Inobella inks. Photo quality was superb.

When I switched to third-party ink and any old paper, the colour accuracy was about as you'd expect. A custom profile helped, but I don't use that printer for many photos so it's not really been a big issue.

However, I would expect that the different paper will make a difference. When I used to print photos on my Epson printers, there was a difference between Epson Glossy paper (a green bias), Epson Photo paper (stronger reds), and their film paper (whatever it was called). Anyone else's paper was hit and miss.

Colour correction profiles are designed to match ink, printer, and substrate (in this case - the paper). Change one and all bets are off.

My Brother printer does allow you to select "other photo paper" but it's never going to be optimised for it. It has other selections for BP71 and BP61 papers from Brother and it's these that, with the right paper and right ink, that produced the best results.

after buggering around with some of the settings in corel & the brother printer...hell yeah !.....we have proper colours :biggrin:
just tryed some epson photo paper....jeez, what a differance....

but 110% gonna need a proper profile from paul when my other sub inks arrive...thats a no brainer lol

Glad you got it sorted. At least you know now. When OEMs say best results come from their ink and their paper, they're not just whistling - they have done the R&D. That we're able to get half-decent results with non-OEM inks and papers says more about bending the rules than anything else.

My previous Brother printer (a 640CW if memory serves), produced hideous green/yellow prints that were only tolerable if you were half-blind in both eyes and wore tinted sunglasses. They had no OEM paper matched to their inks, so it was always a case of hit-and-miss with more miss than hit. With the new Innobella pairing of ink and paper, they've come a long way.
