Re: Epson DTG Printing ?

This has really got my spidey sense tingling...

Same as the rest of you ....Looked at DTG printing - looked at the cost of a DTG printer and went....WOT
Was doing a little bit of research the other night...as you do, & came up with this......
Converting epson printers to do DTG printing....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuBAiFR6gpA

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8eYeV9qhO4

and there are lots more epson printers you can do this with besides those 2.

I just need to figure out how the hell they "convert" the printers........they say that nothing major has been changed for this to work...
Some kind of home made runner/plate underneath the printer - and they say they are using the same motor that already in the printer to drive the plate underneath
Garment / Textile Ink used then heat press for 30sec afterwards - results are ment to be really good and wash/last great....
6-8 mins per t-shirt for printing

an epson b1100 A3+ printer can be bought for only £110 new....i had one....good printer :-)...but to convert it ???

I am lucky i got the luxury of time on my hands before i open my store
& would like to hear others views on this.......

If you look at this forum http://www.t-shirtforums.com/diy-dtg/ you will have most of your questions answered.
It is possible but with a lot of mucking around. On thing that everybody seems to miss though is that you will need a RIP software to load the picture into the printer. And you will need the colour profiles to go along with it.

It would be nice to have some basic instructions. I have enough printers kicking around here, from Epson to Brother, that I'm sure I could convert something if I had half an inkling of how to do it.
