I keep asking the same question, but it seems that FUD outweighs common sense... :biggrin:Paul;41210 wrote:I dont get this to be honest... how comes you will waste all that sublimation ink???
RICOH GXe3350N Can You Use it for Dye Sub?

The power driver is free and has been designed to make the printer use the right combination of colour to be printed onto the paper. Dye sub ink is completely different to normal inkjet, you don't get the correct colour visual until its been heat pressed - you will need to use the powerdriver, or if its a mac, you may have to use a profile instead.we have inhouse design so i dont think we would need the power driver
Re: RICOH GXe3350N Can You Use it for Dye Sub?
I'm pretty technical printer wise and I'm also a Epson Service Centre plus a Konica Bizhub and canon wide format reseller/Service centre.
I would reckon on marking a air bubble in the pipe with a sharpy and doing a few head cleans while watching the bubble advance when its disappeared you about good to go for the sub ink.
I know someone is going to say why not use an epson with CISS but ive tried it with a S21 and the results i got were poor - I just cant seam to get a vivid image on a Tshirt, not sure if I haver naff ink or poor paper or the heat press id not right. Might try it again with a few variables.

This is what I was trying to explain about the powerdrivergot icc ???
Doesn't matter how experienced you are, you will still need either a profile or powerdriver for Sublimation inks. That could be why your t shirt results were poor.
Re: RICOH GXe3350N Can You Use it for Dye Sub?
Right that makes sense - so how do i get a ICC profile or the power driver

I would think icc is the first think you would think ofI'm pretty technical printer wise and I'm also a Epson Service Centre plus a Konica Bizhub and canon wide format reseller/Service centre.

Mostly - Epsons use a profile, Ricoh's use the Powerdriver (can use profile for mac). These are available from the people that make the inks for free.
Re: RICOH GXe3350N Can You Use it for Dye Sub?
I never actually use ICC profiles, most of the wide format and print production machines use some form of Rip to colour match/media profile.
Will try one with the little Epson S21 with the sub ink and see what happens. I have a brand new B1100 sitting in a box - might be a better option to break it out and try a decent ink manufacturer along profile and suggested paper. Anyone got a suggestion for this.
