Re: sublimation problem

Post by jase121 »

hi when i put the picture on the mug i have noticed a couple of problems
1 is where i put the paper on and stick it with the tape after i have heated it. it sometimes leaves a mark where the tape was.
2 is it looks likes dirt getting on somehow because on one mug it has a small hair on it just noticable.
3 is it looks like the ink has ran a bit wen heating but i think its when i line it up to put the tape on & repossion it.

any help would be great thanks

1. Proper heat tape shouldn't leave marks - get the correct tape (xpres, BMS, Coralgraph all sell it.
2. Check your paper and mug for dust / dirt before applying the paper - keep your workspace clean and tidy.
3. The paper should be bone dry when you place it on the mug - it shouldn't run. Get the correct sublimation ink and paper for the job.

i rem when i 1st started i used to put the bits of tape on my knee so i could get them easily
until i noticed i had a blue mark off the tape where it had picked tiny fibres off my jeans and printed them onto the mug :~

now i use a dispenser :)

altho i did the metal the other day and wrapped tape round the paper and under the metal
and it left a mark very faint but you could see where the tape had been

If mug press temp is to high you can get a mark left off the heat tape. Happened to me last week and I've been printing mugs for 14 years - doh!
