It depends what the RAM is used for. In a page printer (like a laser), the printer needs to take the whole page on board before it can print. The more RAM it has, the more complex (and higher resolution) the page can be. In that situation, 16MB would be barely enough and 128MB would be better. In a line printer (like an inkjet), the printer only needs enough memory for one line at a time so the amount of RAM required is much less. I'm not sure which method the Ricoh uses.

Additionally, more memory on board a network printer means it doesn't need to be constantly fed by a computer - thus freeing up your computer much quicker.

The GXe3300. It's fully supported, the GXe3350 isn't
Surely Sawgrass will eventually support the 3350 won't they?
Very unlikely as the 3350 has been around for sometime and Sawgrass have explicity ruled this out as a supported printer.
To clarify, I haven't put any ink in my 3300 as yet so I can use either printer for sublimation, any thoughts ?
We've printed complex designs on the GXe3300 without problem and it is a fast printer. If there are any problems down the line with the GXe3350 then there is no support from the suppliers or from Sawgrass. If you use the GXe3300 and there are any problems then there is full back up. Why chance it when you have both printers?

Thanks everyone.

I will stick with the 3300 for sublimation.

This is the main limitation of the "approved" option from my perspective. There's only really a choice of one printer.

We pay Sawgrass a small fortune with the high price of their inks, and for that privilege they get to tell us which equipment we must use. That's the tail wagging the dog.

It seems odd to me that paying more means less choice, while paying less means more choice. That's backwards.

I keep looking at their website, but I've never seen Sawgrass say that there is "full back up".

As a supplier then I can assure you, and others, that there is full back up for a period of 12 months from date of purchase from an authorised distributor. This excludes things like wilful damage (e.g. if you drop the printer from a great height, turn it upside down and let ink leak everywhere, stick things inside the printer and break parts etc), but for a printer that is used normally then there is back up.

Don't Sawgrass realise that they'd encourage more people to do the right thing, if they officially recognise this support?

I don't mean any disrespect, but one supplier saying "it'll be alright" can only apply to that one supplier. Effectively, you're making the promise - not Sawgrass.

I just think if Sawgrass made it perfectly clear what support they offer, less people would seek cheaper "unauthorised" options.

Has anyone got a GXe3350 working with Windows 7 64bit. I don't seem to be able to find a driver for it?

Windows 7 downloads drivers automatically, but you can get them from a link on our website - in the gxe3300 page.
