epson s22

hi, i've bought this printer for sublimation and after doing a few test mugs to get used to the process and to try new designs i have noticed that the ink colours aren't as good on the mug as they are on the picture on my screen, they seem a little bit off.

is there anything i can do to fix this?

This one comes up time and time again. There are some on the forum that use this printer, but this isn't an officially supported sublimation printer. Best of luck in getting this to work properly, but for others reading this thread, if you are starting out then do your research to find out which printers the vast majority of dye subbers use rather than buying a printer just because it physically allows sublimation ink to pass through the printhead. There is a difference between a printer that will allow sublimation ink to pass through the printhead (and needs further tweaking with custom made profiles or using profiles for other Epson printers) and one that works out of the box for new sublimation users.

i know when i started out i searched through and get an S21 although it didn't last long until i upgraded to an epson B1100
i'm not sure i'd ever go down the ricoh route as the pricing to start up is huge and when your 1st starting out price is always the 1st factor as it's usually tight

this isn't an officially supported sublimation printer.

it came with a starter package i bought from a site called lovecut, wish i came here for advice first though as i've seen a few threads saying that they are not very good. oh well ill upgrade once i can afford to, thanks anyways

welcome Matt thats exactly what i did and said when i 1st joined lol

the kit itself isn't too bad apart from chuck the paper away as it's rubbish
and use the blanks if you got any for testing

i couldn't believe the difference when i changed paper and blanks
i still use my equipment i get from them but will admit i won't ever get anymore blanks or consumables from them
actually i wouldn't get anything from them now i have found dif suppliers

you'll get there don't worry it's not as bad as you think

It wa bit harsh Martin. I agree with steve. There is no need for this. There is nothing wrong with unsuported printers. If it work with sublimation ink then it can be sed whatever you say Martin. I wonder whats your back up for customers who are not happy with they colors and are using one of yours "out of the box" printers?

Couple of things spring to mind. If the colours don't match the screen it may not be the printer at fault. Has your monitor been calibrated/profiled? Other obvious explanation is that you aren't using a profile/correct profile.

Not intended to be harsh, so no offence intended.

I guess it comes from receiving phone calls after phone calls (less so in recent months), but again earlier this week, from people that bought a printer which doesn't do what they want it to do and find out that it may result in having to buy twice. It doesn't matter to me really where the printer is bought from, but I'm sure what everyone wants when they first start out is for the thing to work properly and get that glow when the mugs print right or whatever you're printing.

It's just a tad frustrating (for everyone, but more so for the purchaser) when certain outlets supply a printer without the full package to make kit work properly and then the end user has search around for a solution.

Sorry Martin I don't have an Epson S22 I have an Epson S21 & still using the D88 ICC profile.
