i hate to guess how many scam emails i get a day
you can guarantee tho that at least once a day some bank who i don't bank with are changing their system and re-quire me to update my details
or that i'm owed thousands in compensation
bless em hey they have to try don't they

in this day and age with all the technology we have you'd think we'd be able to block all emails from this country :~

and if i have a choice when buying something between uk call centres and these other ones i know which 1 i will choose

Hi Paul,
I think you make a big mistake by opening any links as this tells them the IP address of your computer and that they have a genuine active email address.....

And don't reply to them - if you do, you've just verified your email address, and given it to half of Nigeria

I think this is a bit of a myth. These scammers fire off emails to anythingtheycanthinkof@anydomaintheycanthinkof.ext. They don't waste their time checking to see whether the email address actually exists.

That would require a bit of work, and at least half a braincell. There's no way they're bothering to take any email addresses out of their automated system just because they don't get the address confirmed. Far easier just to fire off a billion scam emails in the hope of hooking someone.
