Re: Umbrella Printing

Post by AdamB »

I just did a search but couldn't see anything that answers my question.

I had a customer earlier that enquired about a printed umbrella.

The print won't really be sublimation as it's just a graphic (a bee to be exact) all over it and also some wording.

Now, I was thinking straight away that umbrellas are probably nylon so I need nylon flex (not standard garment flex), but then I checked on the sublimatable umbrellas and it said that they are fully printable with a sublimation print (so obviously polyester) or nylo flex ....... ?

Does that mean although it's polyester standard vinyl/flex won't work? Or is nylo/nylon flex the best option to use on things like umbrellas?

Hi Adam,
I think BMS umbrella's are polyester so you can sub them if needed, on a flat bed press.

Printed one ages ago, think it is a Quadra

Thanks John :-)

This is my question though, but basically another question will answer my main one.

Has anyone ever sublimated and pressed garment vinyl/flex on the same shirt? (sure I've read others have before)

This is what I mean - if it's polyester then normal vinyl/flex can be used???

Should be fine. Standard flex can be applied to cotton and polyester. We had a similar query earlier of a customer that wants to print a single colour something onto an umbrella and flex should fit the bill.
