I understand the point you made here Logobear but i am not agree with you in 100%.
I got my suppliers for stuff i like and I buy from them coz they sent me a sample before. whoever never send me a sample or didnt bother to reply to my email wont get my pounds. sorry but this is true.
sample mugs, coasters and other blanks need to be classed as part marketing/advertising. and as we all know advertising aint cheap. I am sure people dont stick leaflets only through the door where is potential customer...
as I said. if someone cant be bother or is to tight to send me £1 worth mug then is not worth my £50 on next order.

ps. i contacted xpres some time a go about they plaques. they send me huge plaque next day with some great brochures full of info. ooohhh. and it was blank so i could try it my self. now they got me as a customer.

I can understand where your coming from Paul, but if Xpres/BMS etc sent out blank mugs/stock to every one, and his dog, they'd be out of business by now.
Samples to a company, that's fair enough - you have to speculate to accumulate, but samples to a random person, without backing of a company name, then that's a different matter.

I'd charge and refund off next order - if someone rang you up and said "please send me £2.50" would you do it?

yeh is exactly how i feel - if any samples are sent charge - id gladly pay for them.
But also for samples - dont need cups/keyrings etc - different papers or vinyl would do (small samples say a4 size)
may get more orders is the way i look at it

Yes, paper samples would be quite easy and cheaper for them to send too!

also worth to say when I did asked about sample to xpres representative I did mention that i dont care what size of the plaque and it can be even some damaged one. i dont mind. all i wanted to see if it will print nicly. and they did send me lovely, big one to try. quality was great btw :)

I remember i contacted BMS once about they beer stains. those chunky ones you remember? (they dont sale them anymore i think...) All i wanted to do is check if i will be able to press them in my standard press and if they print bright enough as they was not white. they where more white bone thingy color.
I had reply
"Sorry, we don't give our stock away". I feel d like somene who trying to mug them on one stain lol :)
I contacted novachrome about one sample too after refusal from BMS. next day i had a little box waiting with 3 of them! (I only asked about one) I managed to press them (only just ) in my 11oz wrap. Next week after that i order two boxes of steins and box of 20 ceramic oval tiles. This was because they where willing to send me a sample and they where so generous with them. This was first time i deal with Novachrome that time and cant fault them for they service ;) again... they got me as a customer now.
