Re: Olympic Ideas
Hi - before I give up on trying to make some commemorative stuff for the olympics to sell I just wanted to throw this one out there to see if anyone had any bright ideas as it seams like the olympic committee have this one all sewn up in terms of ip protection.
Ok here it is - I've read the branding information on the official olympic website and the logo's are protected, the word olympics, the word london 2012 and a few other things are copyrighted. So not sure what's left other than to leave it to those who can afford the license fee and get on with designing other stuff.....

Re: Olympic Ideas
Well, seeing as we built a national aquatic centre that leaked in Dublin, if it ever came to Ireland we'd rename it the Oi-limpics and begorrah to the lot of them and their copyrights.

Re: Olympic Ideas
I wouldnt even think of touching the Olympics or anything even remotely olympic related. Even suggesting Olympics related stuff can get you into trouble. These guys are rabid about their IP. If you remember what happened during the World Cup - an airline from South Africa said "the unofficial national carrier of you know what" and ended up being sued.

I managed to get tickets for the 400 metre butterfly event & I'm so excited because I have never seen butterflies that big before.

Re: Olympic Ideas
While you cannot mention the Olympics, would it be possible to make some supportive memento for individual competitors? Wishing, for example, Tom Daley good luck off the top board.

Re: Olympic Ideas
nope, apparently not, see the above post about the airline, as those names are connected with the olympics - they cannot be used in anyway. far far better to concentrate on the anti-ring feeling thats around

Re: Olympic Ideas
They haven't been that aggressive so far on protecting their questionable copyrights. Search the internet and you will find several websites with the actual web address having combinations of London/Olympic/2012 etc. that operate with offerings directly related to the games.
I can't see why you can't have a straight forward "2012" done in union jack colours. I know they have covered combos but a single year has got to be pushing the limits of what they can stop you doing. Add to that an image silhouette of cycling/swimming/running etc Well that's what IO was going to look into anyway but too busy to worry about it right now.
