kk anyone on here got one of these big printers ?
Reason being mine works fine (well sort of) - i can print massive photos and canvases with no problems at all.
Now heres the thing - to print to this printer i use a special software called HP epint and share
Now it lets me load a pic in and then set a size and print it off
Now say i print a pic by 20 inch by 20 inch
my roll is 42 inch so the waste alone there is 24 inches and cant be used again as its cut off the roll
Ive tried printing from adobe photoshop and setting it up so i can as much of the width of the roll as possible but the measurements i put into adobe dont match what comes out on the printer
I made loads of 6x4 boxes for photos and tried that but each photo came out massive
any one got any ideas - as its proberly just something im over looking
Im trying to get as much out of the width as possible such as two pictures but so far only managing to get one across
I think i just found out this printer prints on vinyl as well - gonna check google for that - wonder what else it can do

Re: HP Designjet 500 PS (how to calculate print)
From what your saying it looks like you could possibly find using a RIP software like Onyx helpful

i throught their software was for getting colors correct etc with certain profile prints.letsgo;37401 wrote:From what your saying it looks like you could possibly find using a RIP software like Onyx helpful
Im just after something which will allow me to use the full 42 inch roll
Infact ill give u a clue as what im after
i want to print some photos - 6x4 and i need a few of them
but if i send to print it just does one on each line
so look at how much waste ill have on the roll - gotta be someway of getting it to print more than one item across the roll
Re: HP Designjet 500 PS (how to calculate print)
ive fixed this one now - was easier than i throught
my roll is 42 inch wide so what i did was a template in photoshop at 42 inch wide by 10 inches (testing purpose only - can be any size)
Now i knew the photos i wanted where all 6 x 4 (testing purposes only)
so i made new template at 6x4 (2 templates made now) - 1 for the roll - 1 for the pics
now i placed a pic on the 6x4 template and resized to fit
then when that was done i copied it to my roll template (42x10)
fits perfect and plenty of room for others (just copy across as many will fit across the template)
just done a tester and all come out fine with all pics printed as i wanted them.

Use something like Quark or InDesign and have multiple images in a 42" page
