Re: Ricoh printer query
Had my Ricoh GX7700 a few weeks now and from the very first day it's stops printing half way through a job, than make a funny noise and than continues printing. But the thing is even through it could be a flood colour black it leaves a darker line down the page. It like it losing memory half through a print. Again I think It's yet another printer not up to sublimation printing. A printer costing this much should not be doing this. I am starting to question this sublmating as I have come across products and printers that dont seem up to the job, sorry about the rant but i feel it's 1 step forward 2 steps back sometimes.
Re: Ricoh printer query
It may not be the printer.
I've had a similar issue, though intermittent, with too many applications open on the Laptop, the buffer memory available is reduced. My basic understanding is the printer needs to accept the full file size, but the Laptop can only send it partially. This causing the printer to pause.
Try opening the a single image file to print only, with no work in progress if using photoshop (this bumps a file size up from Mb to many Mb/Gb) see if this works. Alternatively, look at the file size you're printing. I've no guidelines, but the more MB or numbers of files - the slower the buffer transmit.
I don't know if this helps the darker line issue - but it has helped my printer from pausing.

Re: Ricoh printer query
John G, I dont think it's a printer problem, I think it's wot james has said (thanks james will look at this). It,s not my Mac as I use to print on a Espon 1440 and that never paused. But I got shut of the Epson 1440 printers cos I went through 4 of them in 2 years because of blockages and again these printers are not up to sublimation printing but sublimation shops sell them which I dont understand.

I don't think there is a printer that has been specifically design to print sub ink.sublimation printing but sublimation shops sell them which I dont understand
Take one of your files, that you are having trouble with, and reduce the file size, print it off and see if the problem is still there, if it does, it's not your file size.

Re: Ricoh printer query
Hi there,
I know this is a really old post but i just wondered if you ever found a solution to why the ricoh stops printing half way through a job. Ive noticed it does it around the 5th or 10th page and its always at the same point in the image! Thought it might be worth seeing if anyone knew the problem. Asked ricoh but they wanted to send a technician out for something like £200!! cheers
