I found this and thought it may be of use to folks on this forum - I saw it on a sign forum I frequent.

http://www.wordmark.it/

Type any word in the top box and then you'll see it displayed in all of the fonts that are loaded on your computer - brilliant

I'm guessing that everyone knows these tips but, if there are fonts you use a lot, you can print out a sample sheet by doing the following -
  • Go to the fonts folder on your computer (C:\WINDOWS\Fonts for WinXP)
  • Double-click the name/icon of the font you're interested in, and a sample page will come up showing the font in various different sizes.
  • There's a print button at the top right of the window.
That will print the sample page and you can file it away for reference. Handy to keep a printed file of your most popular fonts.

Also, while in the Fonts folder you'll see four icons in the icon bar - one of which has AB in a square. If you click that button, the fonts will be listed for similarity against the font shown in the drop-down list below. So, if you have many fonts, some that are similar and you're trying to pin down which one to use, you can use this similarity comparison feature.

(I've no idea whether these things work in Win7 or Vista.)

No Problem, cannot really take the credit as I took the idea from another forum/site. It's very handy when trying to match someone's design - fast.
