Hello,
I do sublimation printing into acrylic and wondered if anyone knows a better way to remove the layer left behind from the paper? I used to use propan2ol, but since switching to a better paper, this does not take the layer off.
It makes the images look cloudy instead of sharp and shiny.
Thanks

Re: Sublimation Cleaning - Acrylic Blocks
Cannot help you there but where do you get your acrylic from.
Re: Sublimation Cleaning - Acrylic Blocks
generally ebay as some suppliers demand large orders. Depends what work I am doing.
Re: Sublimation Cleaning - Acrylic Blocks
Paper doesn't stick like that to the photo acrylic blocks. Are your coated?
Re: Sublimation Cleaning - Acrylic Blocks
All I know is that I am printing onto sublimation paper and attaching it to the acrylic/ perspex sheet with heat resist tape. Also, today for some reason (and I havent changed any settings) I have noticed that the images arent printing properly. When I take them out they look like they have needed more time in there, if I leave them longer the acrylic starts to lose shape and melt? I never had this problem before so am confused about what is hapening.
Re: Sublimation Cleaning - Acrylic Blocks
I didn't think you could sublimate directly to standard Perspex sheets as there is nothing for the sublimation ink to bond with, hence why acrylic blocks are specially coated.
Re: Sublimation Cleaning - Acrylic Blocks
Maybe thats part of the problem. Can you buy spray coatings? Might help
Re: Sublimation Cleaning - Acrylic Blocks
So, have you had any success sublimating onto standard acrylic bought off ebay ?
