Having never used any real design software like that before (apart from publisher lol) I found it pretty easy to pickup, where as adobe illustrator is a complete nightmare. Corel is quite intuitive I found and things are where you would guess they are and what they are called. Illustrator needs a glossary of terms just to understand what things mean lol.

Just checked coreldraw 12 against x4 and your right, the import filters allow certain files to be imported in x4 that cannot be imported into 12.

personally I use Illustrator for all my design work.. I use CorelDraw for basic cutting ;)
I suppose it's what you feel comfortable with..

The earliest version of corel draw i had is 3!
It used to be said that the odd numbers were better .....
I have Corel 11 on a couple of machines, and X3 on another, and they are all perfectly fine, the differences to most things are not significant, just a bit more polished.
If you have an older PC, - go for an earlier version, otherwise, you may as well have the latest.
Only problem with using different versions is remembering to save in the correct (lowest) version.

It did say 100% original sealed packaging! How will i tell if its original?
