Re: Colour seems dull.

Well i finally printed my first mug using the Ricoh 3300, however the print seems quite dull, it doesnt replicate what is on the screen. There is also a photo in the print which looks a little pixelated.

Am i doing something wrong, have i set the Ricoh up correctly, I printed from a graphics package called GIMP.

Thanks
Steve

shame you want some answers but you never provided any techincal info :(
you said your mug is diffrent then whats on the screen. so i presume your screen is calibrated?? pixelated picture??? whats the resolution of this pic and what dpi? printed from gimp??? hmmmm this does not work very well with colour menagment but if you print with rotech then you propobly use powerdriver??

The printed picture is duller than the screen. I am printing using PowerDriver GXe330 so i presume I am using the power driver. Should I be using ICC Profiles. I've just noticed that the picture is 72 dpi that could be the reason for the pixelation.

What I should of made clear is that the printed picture and the mug are identical so no problem there it is the brightness of the printed picture that i have the problem with

That sounds odd. I don't use a Ricoh myself, but typically the printed picture is duller than what ends up on the mug. The sublimation inks react under the heat of the heat press in order to reach their full colour. Yellow, for example, is typically very weak on the paper print but comes out nice and bright after heating (this goes on to affect all colours with a yellow element - like greens and oranges).
