Re: printing and laminating vinyl

Can anyone tell me what I need to print on vinyl and then cold laminate it to put a photo on the sides of my car? Doesn't have to be long term, my poor car will be lucky to last 2 years! I have been looking at an epson 24inch stylus pro 7400, I know they are now a basically obsolete printer but if they could do this and knock me out a few canvases then I'd be happy enough I think (have access to a manual cold laminator). Is the regular ink ok for vinyl if laminating or do you need a solvent printer system? Have tried other forums and google but just end up more confused.

You'll need a solvent ink printer.

Thanks Dave -
I was just trying to figure if it was worth buying a large format printer and what I could expect it to do. I used to demo for a few craft companies and made a lot of handmade cards, I have some designs that I think are worthy of being made into printed cards - Christmas, baby, wedding and sports and I was trying to weigh up how much work I could expect a new printer to do.
I think at this stage I'd be better off with a printer that can do greetings cards, posters and postercards (even canvas - I say hopefully) - together with the mugs and vinyl T's I have a big enough range to keep me busy and just keep the sign stuff to the basics and like you say, outsource the big printing.
