Re: Some Advice on swopping Mug Press For Flat Bed Press...

I have a DF1 press from BMS (http://www.printerowners.co.uk/hardware ... -press.htm) and due to limited fnds at the moment, Im thinking of selling it to buy a flat bed press - that way i can offer more range.... They retail at BMS for £180 inc Vat plus £6.99 delivery...... Ive had mine about 6-8 months and prob printed around 120 mugs.....

Question is, what could I realistically expect to sell it for so I can buy a heat press...

also...... I have seen this on ebay - seems to be a good deal? Will there be enough height to print acrylic photo blocks?

Any advice gratefully received...........!

Cheers!

My advice would be to stay well clear of that, have you seen the guys feedback. You don't get feedback like that by accident.

Hi Lee

I bought a very similar press to this, but from different seller I think. It sat on my desk for no more than 1 hour before I boxed it back up and sent it back :). Apart from screws missing, dents all over the casing, wobbly legs and signs of rust (all cosmetic I know, but for a brand new item?) the worst bit was the heat platten itself - it was as rough as a nail file.

Now, I'm not saying that every one is the same (he has got good feedback for them) but that's my experience. The bidding went to £200+£20 P&P I think. Anyhow, lesson learned, I bough a used Xpres 50cm x 38cm swing away (made by Adkins) from an eBay seller 30 miles away. I was able to see it working before paying. It is a brilliant heat press (except for filling up my small office!). I paid £400 for it.

I know that Paul (he'll be along soon I'm sure) has recently bought one from Coralgraph.

Hope that helps?

Actually, this is the same as the one I bought - a "draw" press. The base plate pulls out for ease of use - except that mine had a dodgy runner on it so it was nearly impossible to move!

I wonder if this seller is trying to get rid of a similar one to mine ?!?!?!?

The Xpres or Magic Touch ones do come on eBay every so often.

Sorry, forgot to add the eBay link for the draw press - but it's gone now!

It doesn't look like a draw press to me - just a clam press

I was hoping to sell the mug press and buy a flat bed without it costing me any extra - if possible! I know colagraph had one on here for around £150, and whilst I could put to, Im trying not too.... Whats a good selling price for my DF1?

Eeeek - just read his neg feedback - not good and very customer friendly, so it seems....!

Same as your df1 henry from coralgraph is selling under £100 brand new with 12mc warranty. So i dont think you can get a lot for it. I would say £60 is maximum.

As barry said i bought my flat press from coralgraph not long time ago and i love it. Is only a4 as i couldnt sfford anything biger at tjat time but tbh from then i never needed to print anything biger then that. So i decided to keep it and not to upgrade to biger one just yet. Now... Most important is thi is swing away one. So much more nicer to use an you can press much thicker blanks then in clam shell. Hope this help. Ohhh!btw. It costed me about £115 delivered next day with 12mc warranty ;-)

I also have a press from Coralgraph.. As I don't have the space I ended up purchasing a clam press.. Finished well and works well.. with the warranty as well that was the added bonus.. paid just over £200 for it.

That is a good deal! I've had a look around, and I think I, going to concentrate on other products, Ive had a view different types now, and mugs and sub in general havent really gone great if Im being honest! I sell more keyrings and blocks, not to mention the odd canvas compared to mugs - my mug sales tend to come in waves........ so Ive made a bold decision, Im going to sell my press AND ricoh printer........any ideas on price......? I'll go and do some research, but I bought the set from Martin, so Im selling it without the mugs, but with some ink and some paper left....
