Mortgage free
Re: Mortgage free
At long last I'm mortgage free, paid the last payment last week, will I be better off I hope so, but why is when you get extra money it seems to go nowhere, I think the cost of living is higher than what I think. Plus children are like boomerangs they always come back and cost you twice as much.

Well done paying your mortgage off - got about 4 or 5 years left on ours but its one of those daft endowment mortgages and unfortunately there's going to be a large shortfall

Re: Mortgage free
wow, what a lovely feeling that must be still a little while to go on my mortgage i think 8yrs, but i am lucky its only small compared with some of my friends, but we will never be able to afford to move, now we are both self employed, so although there is equity in the house, we will never see it.
son is 18 and just signed up agian for college, he feeds like a swarm of locusts, and although in our divorce papers my ex was supposed to give him some money while he was in full time education, thats never happened, as he cant afford to pay into his pension and support his son !!
in the spring the butter i was buying for my cake making was 81p per pack now the same butter is 1.21 a pack, i buy more from the poorly shelf (reduced section) than ever, and do a big shop at the cash and carry for meat.
Gas and electric charges are getting rediculious, just got to figure how to convert the woodburner into a press and i will be laughing

Re: Mortgage free
We also had a endowment policy and spent the last ten years playing catch up. any policy or spare cash went to it, I have two children a daughter18 who hopefully will be joining the service in January and a 33 yr old son who lost his job and is sleeping in my front room, he has a job now but I have a feeling that he's two conformable and I have the to wangle so he leaves soon. Both are swarm eaters and I'm getting sick to death in the mug who does nearly everything. When they leave I woul like to sell this house which is huge and needs a lot doing to it. Buy a caravan and a unit to work from may my dreams come true
Re: Mortgage free
we have about another 15 yrs on our mortgage and we don't even live in the house rofl
we bought our house i done it all up, built a big extension etc etc then moved to suffolk and left the kids there
we now live on a boat but love it so much better than being in a built up city we look out of the windows and it's fields or water
wildlife all around us we even get a kingfisher come sit on our bow rail occasionally
you wouldn't get that in a city

Re: Mortgage free
I paid my mortgage off about 4 years ago then got divorced and had to take another one out :frown:
Am currently paying a few hundred a month extra off it to try and pay it off quicker. Still 8 more years to go though.
