I love these guys i get one a week without fail, sometimes i'm just to busy to deal with them so hang up on them. On quiet days though I will let rip and I managed to keep one on the phone for 45 minutes. My 3 year old also loves talking on the phone so this is usually his cue to step in lol.
Its an old scam now but some people are still falling for it. Unfortunetly the usual people to fall for it are the older generation lets say who aren't really computer literate and are believing anything they say which they end up with a nice bill at the end of the call for fixing a problem the scammers put there.

I had one of those a while back, and acted all daft with them, told them I didn't have a computer and I felt fine, so couldn't have a virus (cold, flu etc) they didn't know what to make of that, lol

It's sad that these scammers feel they need to victimise the vulnerable. How do they sleep at night?pitkin2020;29189 wrote:Its an old scam now but some people are still falling for it. I've instilled in everyone here (particularly the older generation), that if they have any concern about viruses or anything else with their computer, they're to ask me first. Invariably they do. Touch wood but no one's been caught yet.

Its a numbers game with these scammers they are calling hundreds of people per day and they only need 1 to bite and end up paying the £250 and they have earnt a good days money. Most are based in Nigeria so not a great deal anyone in the UK can actually do but their Government is starting to close a lot of these scammer call centres down but they are just popping up everywhere.
Re: new telephone scam beware
All they need to do is put up their phone call charges, so it costs them a fortune to phone overseas. They might not be so happy with 1:100 odds if they were paying through the nose.pitkin2020;29218 wrote:Its a numbers game with these scammers they are calling hundreds of people per day and they only need 1 to bite and end up paying the £250 and they have earnt a good days money. Yes that would have worked 5 years ago but now most are using VOIPJSR;29220 wrote:All they need to do is put up their phone call charges, so it costs them a fortune to phone overseas. They might not be so happy with 1:100 odds if they were paying through the nose.
