It's actually even easier to workaround than that. Many people using Firefox or variants will be using NoScript to block banner ads. NoScript turns javascript off by default. If javascript is turned off, then any javascript that prevents the right-click is disabled so right-click will work regardless of the javascript.

You can also put a transparent layer over the image, so even if they right click and save they only save the transparent layer lol.

I do like the people who are even lazier and actually just link to your picture so they aren't even hosting it. Those are more fun because you just the image to something very crude lol

I heard about this method and read that this is no help at all. I understand the point of doing this but this days if you pay-you own. if you dont pay then you dont own anything :(

If you are the creator of text, picture, image etc its automatically belongs to the creator and is copyrighted from the point of creation. Pictures are usually pretty easy to defend content is a little harder. Posting something to yourself like text doesn't really prove anything just that you had it in your possession on a certain date, which if the other person claims to have made it 5 years prior how could you prove that he/she didn't. Same with hard copies of photos, atleast with photos taken on film the owner would have the negatives, now its all digital you have the Exif data. With some cameras you can set the Exif data to show your name etc which can't be altered (IIRC) but you can also strip pictures of the exif data, so if someone copies it they will have a digital image without it, where as the owner would have it.

gavgav, your suggestion is quite correct. One way to prove the date of creation is to do exactly as you suggest. I would go a bit further and sign & date the pictures and documents and send them recorded delivery, keeping them unopened. All of that would indeed provide evidence of a date of creation and date of postage. A lot of people do this as it does work.
You have to remember that some evidence, with provenance, is better than no evidence at all.
But if anyone is really that worried about copyright then I would suggest that everything in this thread is ignored and go see a copyright lawyer, pay his fee and get proper advice.

As an aside, Looking at the standard of spelling and composition of most of the post's in this thread, I do wonder how anyone is making any money. Unless of course returns for not being able to write in english is built in to one's quote :-)
