You are not allowed to take photographs on private property without the permission of the owner. I'm sure in a case like this the ploice could have made them delete the files, but by now you can guarantee they have sent them on to friends.
I saw a canvas print of a friends horse at a horse show a few weeks back(it was outstanding), so I simply asked the Photoghrapher who had his stall setup if I could take a picture and show it to the friend and give her the photographers business card.
I believe she contacted the photographer and bought the canvas print. So you may well get some sales on that shirt in the next few days.

I have loads of foreign students who love the British stuff I do, Bus, mini, t.pots ect, I sell model cars of every description. So I'm use to people asking to photo, I don't have a problem, but when they stroll in and looking at one thing and when I offer them the flyer for the full range, they not listening but take a photo of something completely different and when I say you should ask, instead of saying sorry, treat it as their right and give a shirty remark. But as what as I've said what really makes my blood boil was my inadequate way I dealt with the situation. I always think after it happen, on how or what I could have said, There that saying, could've should have, didn't, my mum use to say that to me when I got caught doing something I shouldn't. I'll have to be better prepared next time. At least you asked the photographer that's all we ask then you can say yes or no. Has anyone else had this problem.

I am sure they cant make them delete those files... why would they do that?? dont forget this file is owned by this person. as long as there is nothing "sensitive" on this photographs like govormet buildings etc... they can keep it but... I hope Iam wrong

they dont have to even show those pics to the police! police is allowed to check your photos on your memory card when they "stop and search" you most photogrpahers are stoped under untiterrorsim law but i dont expect they looked like a terrorists...

Paul is correct, once the picture is taken the police don't even have the right to delete the image. In a case like this nothing criminal has been committed so its purely a civil matter.

Jenny putting the sign up won't give you any more powers to prevent people taking photographs but it will deter some people, others will ignore and still take the picture. You could keep a 5mil candle power search light by your desk then if you see someone whip the camera blind the camera (and maybe them) with it, the picture will just be a mass of white and nothing else lol.

Thanks for that. I will put up a sign, If you wish to take a photo please ask, permission might not always be given. If not there a poke in the eye. I think that should make things clear to customers

It's probably not practical, but can't you get large glass/perspex cases to hang your new designs in? Then if someone takes a photo and their flash goes off, all they'll get is flash reflection and not the design.

There's probably some material out there that deters photographs even when the flash doesn't go off. Probably be a bit expensive, though.

You could always fit a couple of security camera's then Put a sign up in the shop that all illegal activity is being recorded.
