Well, the way I see it, he needs to get people starting on the polymer mug path. If they're already on that path then they're going to buy a box of mugs anyway. The first step to doing polymer mugs is getting the puck. Charging more for it is no enticement.

Ideally the puck should be a fixed price. If it was just a tenner to buy, then I'd buy 6 mugs and a puck for try out - but when the puck costs more than the mugs, I have to consider potential wasteage which is why, so far, I haven't bought the starter pack. It's just too expensive for a punt. If it was £6 cheaper for the 6 mugs plus puck (i.e. the puck at the same price as the larger box), then I would have got the pack and started off on them by now.
