Portfolio and Lap-top covers

Anybody got any tips on how to press a portfolio?
I always get a line across the portfolio an inch or two in from the spine.
I have tried them on 2 different presses, differnt positions in the press,differnt pressures, but same result every time.
Driving me crazy.
Also ghosting on lap top covers, how do you stop it happening?
Do you have to pre heat the things before you press?

Not sure about the 'portfolio' item, but with the laptop/netbook/iPad pouches, when they are pressed they can spread a little as the heat gets into them. Might be worthwhile pre-pressing to allow them to spread a little before you place the paper on top for the transfer.
