Re: A sales question....

Its seems that there's quite a few of you on here that have your own store that you work from.... I have had an opportunity to put some products in an friends store, and whilst I have sold one or two items, I am reflecting on whether or not personalised items will sell in a sotre where the personalisation isnt done there and then, or even on site.... The items that have sold are designs, not ones that require a message or photo.....therefore, in your experience, should I have an expectation of selling personalised mugs like this or stick to ready made designs,,?

Cheers!

what i do in the farm shops is make up some designs printed onto mugs coasters etc and sell them like that
but have a laminated flyer there with loads of business cards offering the personalised service as well
and maybe have a couple of mugs etc that have pictures etc on to show what you can do
or print one up that has all the company info on in lots of dif colours and some small images etc

1 tip tho make a note of what designs you leave as i didn't and can't rem what was sold lol so don't know what to replace them with

Superb - thanks for the info! Do you find you sell more ready made designs, or do people come to you for personal stuff? What split would you say you get?

(do you do this full time?)

I'm one of the impatient type! If I want a personalised item, be it a mug or a t-shirt, I want to walk away with it there & then.

TPM, if you are selling unique designs and they are selling well - stick to them you will get a premium price, but perhaps take advantage of the offer of a member for cheap a5 leaflets, and offer the personalisation via an advert on a leaflet that your friend could have in the shop for you
