Re: Black Vs White
Hi,..I read in another post about black being the biggest seller in Tees, but it was difficult to get good quality images to show properly on black. Why is this. At present I am just using iron on for my low volume work and only use white. They are full colour photos with text as well. (will post more questions about this later). The image is pretty sharp and colourful,...would then the dark paper not transfer properly, or is it bleed issue, i.e black showing through the designs making things muddy, or is it some other reason.
many thanks

Re: Black Vs White
In our experience the requirement for Black/Coloured t-shirts is probably about 90% of what we sell. We also push people towards the white sublimation shirts if they want a quality t-shirt with a photo
What sort of customers do you get, can't imagine there's a lot of repeat business if you're using iron on transfers.

Re: Black Vs White
Hi accdave,...at present they are just for friends, one offs or just for my own use as I wanted to see what they were like. As much as a test of all the different types of T shirt available as well as the papers etc. I have had a few DTG samples printed and compared them to my own efforts, and some could not tell the difference between my efforts and theirs. The quality range, as with mug samples I had done a while back, vary hugely. Being an artist I want to put my own designs on products and am just playing around and trying every single option I can so I can make an informed decision as to which way to go. This is why I asked about the black or coloured Tees as I would have given them ago as well, but not much point, so thanks to both replies for saving me some money.
Re: Black Vs White
I find that strange about the DTG samples, they don't feel anything like iron on transfers. Are you absolutely certain it was DTG that you got?

Must admit I was puzzled about that one. Bet Stitch-Up has a heart attack when he reads it lol

Re: Black Vs White
Oh yes,...before I placed order, I rang company to enquire as to what I was getting, chap told me to make sure I requested DTG when I ordered, had confirmation order that email received. It cracks if you stretch it, though it goes back to normal when you let it go,and you can feel rubbery plasticy surface when you rub your hand across it. It was the same with the other samples. What I presumed DTG was, was actual sublimation. I will have to find someone who does that and compare that to what I have
Re: Black Vs White
DTG feels like a screen printed shirt - you would feel the ink as it lies on the top of the shirt, not in the material like dye sub. Stretch it and possibly it may tend to crack then reform but in no way is it like a transfer - cannot see how the two are anything like each other. For a start the transfer would have a square backing around the image or text which feels stiff or like plastic whereas the DTG wouldn't have this backing.

Re: Black Vs White
Hi John,...AHHH...My mistake then, it doesn't feel as stiff admittedly but you can still feel it and it cracks, which is what I base the comparison on. I wanted an image that you can't feel, doesn't crack when you stretch and will last as long as poss. As stated, I THOUGHT DTG meant subli, which is why I was surprised when I got it, to feel anything on the fabric at all.
