There's loads of information on how to boost your rankings in search engines. Nothing's a secret so if you do it you'll be competing with others that do the same. If, however, you're not doing anything you'll be below everyone who 'is' doing things to improve their rating.

Top 69 tips to boost your ratings are at the link below, but in particular registering with Google Webmaster and getting the code on your page is reccommended:

You can also (if you can aford it) pay to have vast improvments done for your ranking byt the experts. If you're going to do this then do some reseach of the company/person first as their are so many cowboys out their it's unbelieveable!

Sorry mate, couldn't resist and thought I'd quote and reply before you could edit your post!

:-)
No point me going back to that post and editing my typo now :)

Typo's are actually another ploy for gaining customers on websites. Variations of certain mis-spelt words (is mis-spelt a real word?) are often put into search engines.

Very True Andrew - there's a site called .................... fat fingers I think that you can type in a word, as an example 'Playstation' and it will search ebay for anyone that has listed a Playstation with the wrong spelling pulling back any items with variations of the search criterea that you entered.

Very clever ploy if used correctly (on a website that is, not on ebay - that's just daft!). A good example is B&Q that own the B&Q domains but their main site is hosted under diy.com ! diy covers everything so they have the best of both worlds!

Out of the 6 sites most appear on the first page depending on search critea, its all about keywords, domain name and how you market the site - think its called seo. Two of the sites are number one most of the time but it does depend on the search words you key in.

C'mon John - are you going to give us your elusive web addys? You never know, you might sell something to a member! Hehehehe!

Worpress does everything for you, just simply upload the files to cpanel using a free ftp program, install the ecommerce plugin and theme and your almost set.

Payment via paypal, google or manual payments.

There are hundreds of excelllent plugins for seo, security, contact forms and it's very easy to upload and edit products.

I had sales coming in before I'd even launched and finished the site!

Not everyone wants to share their website TPM, might be easier to just have a google for personalised mugs/tshirts etc and take a look at the top results.

SEO is controlled by meta tags, which is keywords, and as has been said, if the right words are used, you can get to the front page of google search results.
