Listening to a radio in the shop!

I had thought about getting one but paying twice is too much, they have phoned me but only mentioned the license for them and not the other how sly. hanks for the heads up, mind I read the article why did he not pay, I understand where he was coming from, but its like fighting the government, you're unlike to win even when right is on your side, trouble is now you have one license and have to make a choice, don't envy you.

I know ..................... no choice really as if we don't we risk getting fined plus the shop sounds like a morgue when I'm on the PC and there's only a few people in ............. enough to drive you mad!

The PRS/PPL/MCPS are greedy barstewards IMHO... Buch of gangsters quite frankly! Sure musicians need to be able to monetise their work; but this lot are just another symptom of rip-off Britain as their man interest appears to be self-sustainance!

You should see what these clowns want to licence music for videos! We almost-never use commercially avaialble music as it's usually cheaper to pay some kid with a synthesizer to write a custom piece and buy it out!

In this case Radio sells music; it's like being charged to put somone else's adverts up in the window of your shop.

What the **** is this country coming to, so let me get this right you can go anywhere with a radio and your fine you listen to it in your shop and you get done! So if im driving down the road with my radio turned up does that mean i need a licence?? What about cab drivers???

Techincally speaking, according to the law - if you have a ringtone of a signed artist and your phone rings and others on a bus can hear it - you could be liable for a fine! Whether you'll get one or not, no has been fined yet (to my knowledge) but, according to the law - you could!

You also may be suprised to know that cab drivers 'DO' have to pay for a licence! See the Guardian article below that gives more info

I spoke to the PRS, to see if UK cab drivers have to pay for a license to play music, and was somewhat surprised to find out that they do. There's a fee of £28 a year.
