JSR, can I ask why you use RD?

You can claim upto £41 with a proof of postage for items sent 1st class

So I can be sure it arrived. Personally, I prefer multiple item orders so that I can send via courier - which give you tracking at every step of the way. That's just not viable for one-offs, though.

I do give customers the option of 2nd Class Recorded, but you're limited in weight (which is a big problem if you use Subli Supplies smash-proof boxes). Most people are going for 2nd Class at the moment, so they clearly don't like the current 1st Class Recorded prices. Given that 2nd Class will be almost what 1st Class is, I foresee trouble. Just what we need in a recession.

I've just started using the BMS steins and was wondering if anybody has seen a polystyrene box to fit these, just like a normal mug mailer but bigger?

If you're prepared to pay 70p per box, then I'd recommend these guys: http://www.ascdirect.co.uk

You can order custom-made boxes, in quantities as low as 25, and even have them double-thickness strength. I use them to make shipping boxes for El Grande mugs and ceramic plates.

The ones I buy from ASC are strong and resilient. I've said before that I bought some for 8" ceramic plates and, when they first arrived, I put a plate in one without any additional bubble packing and we played frisbee around the garden (dropping it on purpose). The plate survived intact every time, no matter how far we threw it. Well worth 70p.

I put normal (European) mugs in acetate presentation box then bubble wrap then double wall cardboard box. Then if sending two or three tape together and brown paper round the lot. Have only ever had one breakage and that was a triple pack and somehow one mug was completely smashed the others OK. How does that work? All I can think is the end mug got slammed in post van door.

Posted two packages same day this week from same place (Surrey) one to Northern Ireland one to Berkshire guess which one arrived in 18 hours and which took 24 hours longer? Yes much quicker to post to NI from here.

i received a sample from xpress, in a polystyrene box and then in a larger box - the royal mail frank is for £1.50 they must be on a good rate - i wish i could post for that
