Google Chrome & Splashtop OS

Just installed the latest Google Chrome and enabled the Instant feature, anyone else using this? I'd stayed clear of Chrome as I'd heard it was heavily bugged but recent reports in magazines seemed to praise it very highly so thought I'd give it a try

Initial impression is very impressive, appears much quicker than IE etc. Very simple layout and does everything you need and not much else.

I know we've discussed different OS's on here before but I got a message regarding Splashtop OS. Anyone who's not heard of it take a look here..... http://www.splashtop.com/os. Simply put it creates a dual boot menu upon startup. Splashtop is a very simple os, the idea being it's just used pretty much for Internet. Gets you up and running a fair bit quicker than Windows as it doesn't have to load anywhere near the same amount of guff.

I've installed it and tested the uninstall feature just to make sure it changed the dual boot menu back...having had problems with dual boot before All worked 100%. Again, this is a very simple browser that does everything you need very quickly.

Well worth a look, like to hear back from members who've given Chrome & Splashtop a go!

I use google chrome all the time on my pc and love it for it quicknest with graphics etc. Simple but powerful. Never used splashtop thing tho. Got try tomorow. Js this part of the browser now?

Chrome here too, never used splash, thinky mabob though! miles faster than IE

I've use Google chrome for the last 2 years the only problem I've had is printing paypal postage which I go back to I E for but I find chrome is much faster for connection .

Got to admit that I stay clear of Google products as much as it's possible due to some of their early Terms & Conditions which indicated only too clearly what they think of "privacy". Those clauses were changed when people highlighted them but the fact that they were there in the first place is very disconcerting.

I certainly wouldn't want to use Google for something as important as the OS or the browser, and certainly not for Google Docs. I wouldn't trust them an inch.

When it comes to Splashtop, it was originally intended to be pre-installed to some netbooks to counter the long boot-up times of Windows - something that can be negated if you use Stand-by.

There are other versions of Linux out there that you can dual-boot to and while there isn't much as quick as Splashtop, if you can afford to wait just a few seconds you can have a fully-functioning Linux with your own chosen browser and other software installed alongside you Windows.

Some versions of Linux are designed to run in RAM and so are superfast once you've booted up.

This is true, I tested Splashtop simply from a speed point of view and it certainly works if that's your aim
