I am doing some mugs for a school
and had a spare bit of sub paper beside the printer
i didn't realise it was a lovecut one and printed on it
see the pic the one on the left it tru-pix and the one on the right is lovecuts

exactly the same mug, ink, printer, time etc
only difference is the paper

Good example this - I think this would be a great help to others if made a sticky in either FAQ or help & tips.
It's really not a saving buying cheap paper as this pic has proved.

no it certainly isn't John that is one of the main things i'm learning along the way
cheap isn't always good
i'm really happy with my set up at the mo and will always try and keep using the bits i am

You mentuion using cheap paper, how much is Lovecuts paper? I get my best results with Xpres paper which appears to be one of the cheapest.

must say i bought 100 sheets of love cuts and after 2 sheets binned it as pictures dont stand out, i use a ebayer now and pay 8.99 for 100 sheets and it really is very good quality. not sure what its like on fabrics like mouse mats but on the hard stuff like coasters its great
