I did another slate this morning - using texprint paper, warapped the slate around the image and 'cooked' for 7 minutes at 205 degrees - the result was a lot better than the previous two ...................... but still not as good a finish as yours Paul

I think the variation lies in the silicon mate we are using, mine are from Asdas and a different kind to the ones being used by others so this may affect letting heat through to the slate????

it may be adam! How thick is your silicon pad? Also what preasure you used? Paper sticked to yours?

The mat is about 1mm thick (measured it with a ruler) and I used firm to heavy pressure. The paper didn't stick at all on my last one and I also noticed that it didn't transfer too well to the white bits around the edges - plus a little bit faded around the vey edge of the stone.

You are placing these in the press with the image face up and the silicon mat on top aren't you? So, from the bottom I have press base, stone faced up, image on top, silicon mat on top of this and then press down.

I just noticed Paul - the last one you did was for 8 minutes (480 secs) - this maybe another factor as I have only gone up to 7 minutes!

if you have spare one you can try 8min. and yes. i got my slate face up. Regards sublimating edges did you wraped your slate tight in paper? Or just put your transfer at the top and thats it?

I'll try 8 minutes later - another slate gone though ....

And yes, I wrapped the paper tightly around the slate - the first one I did I just did the two sides and left the top and bottom open but since then they've been wrapped up better than my xmas presents

Just thought I'd update this as I have done a few more over the last couple of days and get perfect results now.

I use medium to firm pressure, 205 degrees for 8 minutes - making sure that the image is slightly bigger than the slate and wrapping the paper around the slate VERY tightly to get a full print on the white bits around the edges.

I always thought the Welsh would be good with slate.........lol
