commission prices

i've been asked to put a display of my products in my local farm shop

how they work it is i leave them there (i know them very well) and then once they sell they give me the money minus a commission

how much is a good % to give them?

i usually sell direct so never really done it like this before
i was thinking either 10% or 20%

Why not make it easier and say a pound per item they sell?

because they'll be mugs, coasters, T's etc

Do you sell on ebay at all?

Thinking about ebay, it costs to list, a final value fee and a paypal fee, so on a single mug listing at say £5.99, it will be 40p to list, 60p FVF and 40p paypal fees, which works out at approx 25% of your sale price, so if you can get them to sell for 10 or 20%, you're making a saving straight away.

I'd go in the middle of your suggestion and offer 15%, or you could offer 10 and see what they say, then up it to 15% if they not happy about 10%

10% and your not worth the shelf space IMHO, granted they have no outlay, but they dont have much to gain either, make sure your prices are right for this "premium environment" look at the price of their jam and marmalade if you want an idea, but their products will be at premium farm shop prices, you are offering something different the farm scene mugs - so you should be able to get a better price for them £6-£7 ?? 20% will give you both the opportunity to expand the business once he can see he is earning some money from you, you will also be able to offer seasonal items - easter, harvest festival and christmas, - ever changing displays with no outlay from him - good luck

yes i usually charge £6 for my mugs
we always get our veg from there its just a small farm with hubby and wife running it
and i asked to put a flyer up and they said why not get a display going as well
they said they will put me my own shelf up as well

bless them they are lovely ppl but don't charge like most farm shops do
we started going there for eggs as they were cheap but now buy all sorts off them as they are good prices too

well, thats good, you could always say to them, £12 commission this week - i will have some eggs, lettuce etc and do it that way

Hi we have our's in two shop, we are not VAT reg but the shops are. we give 30% (sounds alot but) with the VAT at 20% they get 10% plus our price is the same as on our web site. I we did a house party it would be 15%. hope this help.
