We don't know the facts really so no point judging. I've known companies shut down and start up again with a slightly different set-up in the back end for a few different reasons. I agree it doesn't always look good when this happens so a bit of decent PR is needed to smooth the way.
Still confused about the Holding company scenario though? Well known company in Wales......Novachrome? That's the only one I can think of and everything seems very open. In my limited knowledge a holding company is not really some cloak and dagger operation that is hiding things. If there are 2 or more companies a person is involved in then a holding company is a good option for tax implications and accounting.

Hi Dave
I didn't see the message on your website, I got reduced P&P costs after emailing you, and in turn you calling me. The balloons arrived at the weekend, thanks for that

I agree with Paul, the only time I'd be concerned would be if the 'previous' company left customers high & dry. I am for example, concerned about all the bad feedback about Lovecut! Would I buy a press from them? No!
There are many reasons why businesses fail and in most circumstances, there's quite a sad story behind it. Many business owners struggle for months, sometimes years to keep afloat. They make no money and just hope for that lucky break. I wish Sublicut all the best for the future and thank them for trying to make our products more profitable.
